2008 American Eagle Gold Proof Coins

When will the US Mint issue the 2008 American Eagle Gold Proof Coin?
The only thing listed on their website is the 2007 which is no longer available.

page said it was backordered till jan 18. do they ever cancel backorders?

premium on the quarter ounce proof seems relatively narrower. is that gone now too? it was there in the am.

Ordered the 07 buffalo proof last week, fed ex tried to deliver it yesterday!
Good timing for once on my part, what will the new price be-949.90?

they won't mint any more 2007s. it's now 2008.

it takes them some time to switch over. there is no conspiracy.

Last year the 2007 Gold Eagle Proof became available for purchase on Feb 5th, 2007 and was completely bought out by the end of June. This year, however, the mint has not yet listed when the Gold Eagle Proof is to become available. The Gold Buffalo Proof has not yet been listed either.

Maybe the mint is trying to figure out how to deal with the fluctuating price of gold. It would be nice if they would do a "spot +" arrangement like most online PM dealers do.

Changing Gold prices shouldn't effect the mint. They just figure they'll stamp out XX number of coins and need XX amount of Gold at whatever the price is on the day of purchase. When they get around to selling the Coins, they just price it based on the original price they paid for the Gold, not the current market price. For better or worst.
